What a website costs in Spain, with real numbers

A one-page site starts at €400, a typical multi-page site for a local business is around €800, and online shops start at €6,500. Below is what each level includes, what it costs to run afterwards, and what moves the price.

The caveats

What changes the number

Two businesses asking for "a website" can be very different jobs. These are the things that move a quote, and you'll hear which apply to you before you commit.

  • How many pagesA one-page site and a fifteen-page site are different jobs. Most local businesses land somewhere around five.
  • One language or twoA bilingual build is roughly a third more work than a single-language one, and on this coast it usually pays for itself.
  • Whether the content is readyIf you have the words and photos, we move fast. If you need help shaping them, that's time, and it gets quoted.
  • IntegrationsBookings, payments, stock, a CRM or anything that has to talk to software you already use.
  • Moving an existing siteMigrating without losing your Google rankings takes care. It isn't difficult, but it isn't free either.
  • How bespoke the design isAdapting a proven layout costs less than designing every section from scratch. Both are fine; it depends what you need.

Freelancer, agency or website builder?

A website builder such as Wix or Squarespace is the cheapest way to start and the most work for you. You pay monthly for as long as the site exists, and it looks as good as the time you put into it.

An agency brings a team, a project manager and formal process. That's worth paying for on large projects, and it's priced into every hour.

An independent developer like me sits in between: you deal with the person building the site, there's no agency overhead in the price, and the site is yours outright at the end. The trade-off is one person instead of a team, which for a small business site is rarely a problem, and you should still check reviews and live work before choosing anyone.

6 questions

01How much does a small business website cost in Spain?

From me, a one-page site starts at €400 and a typical multi-page site for a local business is around €800. Larger custom builds start at €3,000, and online shops at €6,500. You get a fixed quote in writing before any work starts.

02What are the running costs after launch?

A domain renewal each year and hosting. For a custom-built site the hosting is cheap because there's no heavy software to run. A care plan from €65 a month is optional; plenty of clients take the site and run, and pay €50 an hour if they ever need a change.

03Why do some web designers charge €150 and others €5,000?

Mostly the difference between a template filled in with your logo and a site designed around your business, plus how much is included: copy help, search groundwork, multilingual versions, integrations, and someone answering the phone afterwards. Ask what's in the quote, not just the total.

04Is a website builder like Wix cheaper?

Cheaper to start, often not over a few years once the monthly fee adds up, and you're renting the site instead of owning it. A builder is a reasonable choice if you want to do everything yourself. If you'd rather it was done well and then left alone, a one-off build usually works out better.

05Do your prices include IVA?

No, every price on this site excludes IVA. Whether it's added depends on where your business is based: a business in Spain pays IVA on top, while a UK business usually isn't charged Spanish IVA. The quote shows it clearly either way.

06Do I pay up front?

Projects are normally split into a deposit and a balance on completion, with larger builds staged across milestones. Nothing is billed for work that wasn't agreed in the quote.

Pick what you need and watch the number move. It's an estimate, not a bill. Every project gets a fixed quote in writing before any work starts, and that number doesn't move once we've agreed it.
