WordPress support for the site you already have

New sites I design and build from scratch, but plenty of good businesses run on WordPress, and that's fine. If yours needs fixing, updating, speeding up or taking over from a developer who has moved on, I'll look after it properly, without pushing you into a rebuild.

The problem

Typical WordPress headaches

What you get instead: a WordPress site that's up to date, quick, secure and still yours.

  • An update broke the layout, a form or the checkout
  • Plugins nobody remembers installing, several of them doing the same job
  • The admin is painfully slow, and so is the site
  • The site was hacked, or keeps getting reinfected
  • Simple edits feel impossible inside the page builder
  • Everything is years out of date because nobody dares press update

What you get

What I do for WordPress sites

Hands-on work, checked on the live site afterwards. Not one-click updates followed by an automated report saying everything is fine.

Fixes

Errors and conflicts fixed

White screens, critical errors, plugin conflicts and layouts broken by an update. Diagnosed first, so you hear what's wrong before you pay for the fix.

Updates

Updates that don't break things

Core, theme and plugins updated with a backup taken first, then checked on the pages that tend to break: forms, checkout and anything the page builder touches.

Speed

Speed and plugin clean-up

Unused plugins removed, images fixed and caching configured properly. Most slow WordPress sites are carrying years of things nobody uses.

Security

Hacked sites recovered

Malware removed, the way in closed, admin accounts audited and a review requested if Google has flagged the site.

Takeover

Taken over from your old developer

Logins, domain and hosting traced and moved into your name, then the site looked after from there. Usually possible without the previous developer's help.

Advice

Honest advice on the long term

If the site costs more to keep alive than a rebuild would, I'll show you the numbers. If it doesn't, I'll keep it running and not mention rebuilding again.

Process

How WordPress support works

  1. Health check

Versions, plugins, backups, security and speed, written up in plain English before any work is agreed.

  2. Fix what's urgent

Anything broken or exposed gets sorted first. No point starting a routine on top of a problem.

  3. Keep it healthy

On a care plan from €65 a month, or ad hoc at €50 an hour when you need something. Your choice, and no lock-in either way.

FAQs

WordPress Support: common questions

If yours is not here, ask it on the call. You will get a straight answer, including when the answer is no.

5 questions

01Do you still work with WordPress?

For existing sites, yes. New builds I design and code from scratch because they're faster and need less upkeep, but I won't tell you to throw away a WordPress site that's doing its job.

02How much does WordPress support cost?

Ad hoc work is €50 an hour, with a fixed quote for anything bigger. Care plans covering updates, backups, security checks and 24/7 uptime monitoring start at €65 a month, with no contract.

03Can you work with my theme and page builder?

Yes. I work with whatever the site uses. If the builder itself is behind the slowness or the editing pain, I'll tell you, along with what changing it would involve.

04Can you take over from my current developer?

Yes, with or without their help. It starts with tracing who holds the domain, hosting and admin logins, and getting them into your name.

05Could my WordPress site be moved to a custom build?

Yes, keeping the page addresses that already earn you traffic so your rankings carry over. It's worth it when the site is slow, fragile or expensive to keep patched. When it isn't, I'll say so.
