Javea Scooters: a website with one job, getting scooters rented

The Javea Scooters website, built by SourceCode

What the site is for

Javea Scooters hires out scooters in Jávea to visitors who want to see the bay and the coves on their own schedule, often deciding on their phone while they're here. The website has one job: turn those visitors into rentals.

What was there before

The original site was built with the Oxygen page builder. Its homepage loaded 24 scripts and about 3 MB of files before anybody could ask about a scooter.

What I built

  • Rebuilt on a hand-written WordPress theme, replacing the page builder
  • Five plugins in total: a contact form, email delivery, caching, Google Site Kit and spam protection
  • A booking enquiry form, and a phone number one tap away
  • Structured data describing the business as a rental company, so search engines read its details correctly
